Material guide / HNBR

What does HNBR resist?

HNBR combines oil resistance with improved heat and ageing resistance compared with standard NBR.

Indicative family temperature range: −30 to +150 °C

Generally suitable

  • Mineral oil and many hydraulic oils
  • Many diesel and oil media
  • Glycol-based coolants, depending on compound

Generally unsuitable / requires verification

  • Glycol-based brake fluid without specific approval
  • Strong ketones such as acetone

Common questions

How do NBR and HNBR differ?

HNBR generally has better heat, ozone and ageing resistance than standard NBR, but properties depend on formulation.

Indicative family information. Concentration, pressure, temperature, exposure and the exact compound must be assessed. Safety-critical applications require documented application approval.
