Material guide / Silicone (VMQ)

What does Silicone (VMQ) resist?

VMQ offers a broad temperature range and good ozone resistance, with limitations for certain fuels and mechanical loads.

Indicative family temperature range: −55 to +200 °C

Generally suitable

  • Ozone and weathering
  • Water at moderate temperatures

Generally unsuitable / requires verification

  • Petrol and diesel with standard VMQ
  • Steam and prolonged exposure to hot water

Common questions

Does silicone resist glycol?

Compatibility depends on compound, glycol formulation, temperature and exposure duration. Confirm these before selecting the seal.

Indicative family information. Concentration, pressure, temperature, exposure and the exact compound must be assessed. Safety-critical applications require documented application approval.
